Therese Raquin

2022

Speculative set design for a theatrical adaptation of Emile Zola’s novel ‘Therese Raquin’, set in 1940s Paris. The director’s vision for this production was purgatory, ‘a watery place of judgement’. My set design is inspired heavily by the sewage system of Paris. I chose a traverse configuration for the black box space to create a sewer tunnel on stage which mirrors the river Seine.
