Tess of the D’Urbervilles

Speculative costume design project for Thomas Hardy’s novel ‘Tess of the D’Urbervilles’. Through this project, I practiced digital costume rendering and learned how to properly research dress history. Additionally I taught myself a specialized costuming skill: smocking, a form of pleatwork embroidery, making a 1870s farmers’ smock frock on a 1:2 scale mannequin.
